Did the unthinkable…

Well. At least something that i always felt was unthinkable for me. Audrey is now in a “summer” trim! Better known as a shave down. LOL.

I always thought i would keep all my dogs in full coat but with the number of dogs i have and the bacterial infection she caught from the beach….we decided it was time for her coat to go. I won’t post any photos though(i don’t want her to feel bad*giggle*). Friends who i told were shocked that we really went ahead with it. I guess it came as a surprise!

We also got panda neutered. Wow. Its really been a long time since i last blogged. Been crazy busy with the grooming salon and suffering from a lack of inspiration. Facebook has consumed me too. LOL. Just so much easier to post photos onto FB:) Hard to believe that the year is almost over. So much things have happened and i am sure that i will never forget this year. The year i lost my best friend-Arson as well as a dear friend. Both too sudden and too early. I sure hope 2011 will be better!

This poem really describes my feelings very well. Found Arson’s old dog tag recently and it made me tear. It has been 6 months since he left. I will never forget my baby boy and there is nothing i will love more than i love him.

Midnight trip to the vet

It started out as an ordinary evening. Had just got home from work and fed the dogs when Sheryl suddenly noticed that Cassie’s eye was swollen and bloodshot. Decided to make a trip to the emergency vet as we noticed that the skin at the side of her eye was torn and was sagging. Cassie looked like a bloodhound!

Made our way in record time to Mt Pleasant (Whitley) where we were attended to by Dr Dennis Choi. I actually never liked the idea of going to Mt Pleasant as i have heard so many unpleasant stories (no pun intended. giggle) Anyway, they ran some tests to see whether her cornea and retina was affected and how bad the damage was. Most importantly, we wanted to know if her vision was affected. Luckily, it looked a lot worse than it was! The entire fiasco was just a bruise! There was no tear, or cuts. It just looked like it was torn because of the swelling! It was just a really really bad bruise. Whew! We think she must have gotten it while play fighting. Yikes!

We give Dr Choi 2 thumbs up! He is my new favorite vet!!!!! Went back to him 5 days later for a review. I have to say he is very patient, detailed, and willing to listen to all my concerns about my dogs. After losing Arson so suddenly, i have been a little paranoid over the smallest of issues, just in case i miss anything out. We asked him a zillion questions and he answered them all. We definitely got a lot of insight from his consultation. Dr Choi is just a great vet:) I usually go to Dr Hsu of Animal Clinic, another fantastic vet. We have gone to him since we had our first dog which was more than 10 years ago. However, since he is in a “semi-retirement” stage,(he only has consults 2 days a week now), it’s hard to get an appointment with him. We have been looking for an alternative vet for 2 years but have not been very successful so we are so glad we found Dr Choi. Peace of mind at last!

SKC Show

Had an SKC show on saturday at camp challenge, legacy hall. Was very hesitant about joining because i knew i would be reminded about Arson constantly while i was there, and that there would be people who asked me questions on why he left. Wasnt sure if i would be able to cope with that, but decided to go ahead and enter Cassie as we needed one last CC on her to finish her championship.

Thankfully, we did finish her championship! Yay! Cassie is now Ch Dreyson Caught by Surprise. A lot of people commented that she is a VERY spoilt little girl. SIGH. She kept asking me to carry her (those who have seen her know what i mean) and didnt want to leave my lap. Someone, i cant remember who, commented to me that she was the biggest lap dog they have seen. Oh well. *giggle*

At the show…it was bitter sweet. i had a good time with friends, and helped out ringside with their dogs. It was a productive day as L took home 2 BIG(3) with Lordi and S took back BIG(2) and RBIS Puppy and RBIS Singapore Whelped with his pekes. Big congrats! But…i also teared up a few times at the show. First when i was driving on my way there and Stacey mentioned how weird it was to go to a show without him. Then i teared again when i spoke to people who asked about how he passed on. Its amazing how many people even knew about it. Of course, there were also those that did not know my situation who asked me where he was, and whether i was showing him. I just answered that I wasnt showing him anymore. I didn’t feel up to explaining that he was gone, so i left it at that.

Baby, i miss you. Sometimes its hard to say that you have gone, and i always talk about you in the present tense. I hope you are doing well over the rainbow bridge. I love you. Till we meet again…

On a happier note…The Pet Emporium has relocated~!
